27/04/2020Wearing the hijab is encouraged in Islam. However, the reason why one would wear it should be out of love for Allah to adhere to a modest dress code, rather than due to being abused/forced into it without knowing the reasons.

11/04/2020I believe that each woman has the choice to wear a hijab or not. I've been thinking about this topic a lot since, as you said, more people are taking it off. At this point in my life, I no longer believe headscarf is necessary/compulsory. Modesty is a lot more than a headscarf, it extends to behaviour, character and overall attitude. As long as the dress is modest (up to each person to decide what they believe is modest), then I don't think it's necessary. From my research, I've found headscarf is mostly Arab cultural tradition and there is no verse (as far as I'm aware) where women are instructed to specifically cover the hair. I hope this helps x

03/01/2020I think women should understand why they want to wear the hijab before deciding to wear one. Of course if you were raised wearing one then great, but women who are struggling to decide should focus on WHY they want to wear a hijab. Is it because you have learnt about the importance of it and therefore are wearing it for YOURSELF and out of love for God. Or is it because you've been told you must wear one with no other explanation? The more you read about the history/importance of hijab and why we as Muslims are encouraged to dress modestly then I feel you may find it easier to make a decision for yourself. Like others have mentioned, hijab isn't just about covering your hair, it's a principle of modesty for both men and women. Yes we as Muslims should dress modestly, but to also have modesty in the way we talk, behave with others and how we present ourselves in public. Hope this helps!!

03/01/2020Hijab is not a choice but surely one must wear it with their free will. Hijab doesn't mean just the headscarf. It actually means much more than that.
