Ramadan Mubarak Everyone!

My name is Sophie Humphrey, and I am currently doing a university project/article on the hijab ban in Karnataka, India. I am based at  Kingston University, London, and would love to get some contacts for this. If you are not familiar, the High Court there has upheld a ruling by the government  to ban Muslim women from wearing the hijab in educational settings such as within university classrooms.  Naturally, this decision sparked outrage and protests from young Muslim women across the state, and activism from student groups such as The Campus Front of India to stage their own protests against the legislation.

As I'm sure you also  are, MWN is at the forefront of upholding and campaigning for Muslim women's rights, so I am looking to speak to some Muslim women about their experience of wearing the hijab in their workplace or place of education. I am looking for UK-based Muslims to share their experience on this topic and if you have ever faced any discrimination or consequences of wearing your hijab in these places. I am open to experiences of other women across other countries, also. If you are interested in being interviewed for this or know anybody who could help, please respond to this post or email me at: sophieannhumphrey@hotmail.com.

Thank you so much for reading this post, and I hope to speak to some of you soon.

Kind Regards,

Sophie Humphrey.
