An annual honorarium fee of £250 will be paid plus travel costs for attending any meetings.
Time Commitment
2-3 days (i.e. 14-21 hours) spread out over a 12-month period.
Members will be selected on the basis of their knowledge and insights about Muslim women in Britain and the key issues that affect them. This may have been acquired through their professional or voluntary roles and / or because of personal lived experiences.
Muslim Women’s Network UK (MWNUK) is seeking to set up a national advisory group of 8-12 Muslim women to strengthen its advocacy and campaigning work. Members will be asked to provide advice on how to reduce the inequalities experienced by Muslim women and girls, how their needs can be met and how their social, political, economic and health outcomes can be improved.  These views will help inform research, government consultations, projects, and the work of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Muslim Women which MWNUK helped to set up. Earlier this year the CEO of MWNUK, Shaista Gohir OBE was appointed to the House of Lords as a non-party political Crossbench Peer, which also provides an opportunity for input into policy and law making.
(The Advisory Group members will be asked for their views through various methods such as email, phone calls, online group meetings and occasionally in person meetings).
If you are interested in being an advisory group member, please email and provide your contact details, reasons for wanting to join the group and your key of areas of interest or expertise / experience.  If you wish you can also send a CV – this is optional.
