Hi everyone! I want to buy and read more books by BAME female authors, to support and empower them in these difficult times. Unfortunately, BAME authors do not get the same hype for novels as their white counterparts which is disappointing and the few BAME books I have read have been better then the popular books written by white authors. So, what recommendations does everybody have? I'm not really picky over specific genres. I'll start: - Spy Princess: The Life of Noor Inayat Khan by Shrabani Basu - Ayesha at Last by Uzma Jalaluddin

I have quite an ecclectic taste in books (basically anything and everything!) but incidentally the vast majority of the books on my shelves seem to be those written by BAME authors so here are some of my recommendations: 1. Lyrics Alley by Leila Aboulela 2. Secret daughter by Shilpi Gowda 3. Brick Lane by Monica Ali 4. Sari & Sins by Nisha Minhas 5. Lascar by Shahida Rahman 6. A girl like that by Tanaz Bhathena 7. Pride, prejudice and other flavors by Sonali Dev 8. Empress Orchid by Anchee Min 9. The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai 10. The Red Carpet by Lavanya Sankaran
