Job Title: BME Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA)

Salary: £26k per annum / pro rata

Hours: Full time (36.25hrs) / will consider flexible working

Fixed term: 2026 Specific dates to be agreed.

Humraaz is a charity organisation, established for 23 years specialising in supporting women and children from black and ethnic minority backgrounds who have been affected by violence against women and girls including domestic abuse and sexual violence. We offer advice, advocacy, refuge and interactive programmes/workshops for local BME women. As an IDVA you will provide high quality specialist domestic abuse support to BME (Black Minority Ethnic) women who have experienced any form of domestic abuse. You will advocate on their behalf to reduce the risk of further abuse and engage with other professionals to provide guidance and support in response to domestic abuse. You will be multi-lingual to deliver the service effectively by identifying and responding to the needs, safety or concerns.

 

Information, advice and support will span across all forms of domestic abuse, gender-based violence, forced marriage, honour-based violence and related issues such as immigration / asylum, no recourse to public funds, matrimonial and children, housing and homelessness, mental health and financial matters. You will be involved in Case Management undertaking needs and risk assessment, safety planning, monitoring, reporting, documenting and offering coping and recovery themes. We are looking for an individual who is proficient in spoken Urdu and is committed to providing a commendable service to refuge and outreach service users as per the IDVA remit. Further information

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience is required.
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful candidate for this role.
