On Tuesday 19th December 2023, we hosted our webinar on organ donation with guest speakers including; Dr Iram Sattar MBE (MWNUK Co-Chair) and Mehvish Goheer who shared their stories around organ donation. We also heard from Sabia Rehman who is a Muslim Chaplain and Kartar Singh Bring who is a Sikh Chaplain.
MWNUK Trustee, Faeeza Vaid began by highlighting the aims of the session, and then we heard from Iram who talked about her brother Farhan, who sadly died last year whilst waiting for a heart transplant. Mehvish then spoke about her young daughter, Imaan who was a recipient of a kidney donation.
Using his experiences as a Sikh Chaplain, Kartar reminded attendees that donating an organ to save a life is one of the biggest gifts and blessings we can give to someone. Sabia tackled some of the most common queries Muslims pose when it comes to organ donation.
Our request to you is to think about donating your organs and saving people like Farhan and Imaan. Do your research, talk about it with friends and family, and spread the word!
