Ayisha Karim interviews Jenny Chambers (CEO of ICP support) about a condition in pregnancy which affects the liver and causes itching (ICP). Any abnormal itching in pregnancy should be checked out by a health care professional, even if the itch does not affect you too much. Additional monitoring may be needed for both mum and baby and in a small percentage of cases, it can affect the birthing of the child.
ICP has higher rates amongst South Asian women, therefore it's important that medical support is sought if anyone experiences the symptoms associated with ICP. Jenny Chambers discusses her experience with having ICP, the symptoms/signs, treatment options, birthing plans and also the service that ICP Support gives.
