MWNUK CEO Baroness Shaista Gohir OBE was on BBC Newsnight on the 22nd June 2023 to touch upon the impact of coercive control & manipulation in abusive relationships, particularly regarding Fawziyah’s case.

Fawziyah was a smart and educated woman who volunteered for MWNUK and knew her rights, but unfortunately the extent of her husband’s domestic abuse and manipulation resulted in her death, just as she was trying end their relationship. We hope to raise awareness so that women who are in similar situations can seek help before it’s too late.
