Baroness Gohir on Tackling Domestic Abuse

Given the new Labour government's manifesto promise to reduce violence against women and girls by 50%, their first budget announcement reveals no funding towards tackling domestic abuse. Baroness Gohir questions this and asks what the government will do to address violence against women and girls which is considered a national emergency. She also urges for a public consultation to investigate why domestic homicide rates are higher for ethnic minority women.

Additionally, Baroness Gohir sheds light on other forms of domestic abuse such as spiritual abuse and transnational abandonment which demand legal definitions so that perpetrators can be held accountable.
