Professor Farah Bhatti OBE is a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Morriston Hospital and is the first woman of Pakistani heritage to be appointed as a cardiac surgeon and the only Muslim woman to be elected to Royal College of Surgeons College Council. She is also the first female consultant cardiac surgeon in Wales. She was awarded an OBE in the New Years Honours 2021 for her services to diversity in the NHS in Wales.
In this clip, Farah is interviewed by Naz Shah MP (Labour) who is the Co-Chair of the APPG on Muslim Women. Farah discusses her upbringing, her start in the NHS and the challenges she faced as a Muslim woman in a male-dominated field.
