CEO of Muslim Women’s Network Uk, Baroness Shaista Gohir, spoke in the House of Lords on 24 July 2024. With the topic of home affairs and justice being discussed in the House of Lords chambers, Shaista addresses two key points: VAWG (violence against women and girls), and hate crime.
In the first part of the video, she begins by speaking about ethnic minority experiences of violence against women and girls, then from 1:50 onwards she turns her attention to the topic of hate crime experienced my Muslims, particularly touching upon Muslim women specifically.
On both points she urges the new Labour government to investigate these concerns.
